The countdown to Christmas is officially on! As the storefronts are decorated and outdoor Christmas lights begin to light up the night, our Kindergarten crew are growing more and more anxious for the big day to arrive!
We (the teachers) are trying to slow things down and savour the moments, as we have so much planned for our crew in the upcoming weeks!
Once again, our “Make the Seniors Smile” campaign will be in full swing! Our JK/SK elves will be busy creating as many seasonal paintings, crafts, and cards as possible to gift to the residents at Iler Lodge, here in the town of Essex. We’re hoping to “deck their halls” and spread some Christmas cheer during this holiday season. If the weather permits, we may even pop into the Lodge right before Christmas for some carolling and fun.
Our classroom door decorating contest is underway. Don’t forget to vote for the kindergarten door (staff room), as we follow Frosty the Snowman into town!
Here in the Kindergarten room, we are anxious to see if our annual “mischievous” visitor will return for the month of December. There’s no telling what kind of shenanigans that little elf may be up to this year!
Other days we’ll be celebrating this month include . . .
On Thursday, Dec 4th, we’ll be playing roll-the-dice circle games to celebrate National Dice Day.
National Christmas Card Day is on the ninth, which we’ll be making cards to give to the residents.
We’ll be decorating gingerbread houses on December 12th for National Gingerbread House Day.
Story Book Early Learning Centre will be open on December 22nd and 23rd (Mon/Tues), and again on Jan 2nd (Friday) offering full day care for our Kindergarten and School Age friends. Please us know as soon as possible if your child requires care.
We hope you have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy the holidays with friends and family!
