Preschool Room #2 News
March 2026
As we begin the month of March, we will see if our groundhog friend predicted correctly. The preschoolers are hoping for some warmer days especially with some nice sunshine. Although we have enjoyed sledding around our play yard, and making snow angels and snowmen, we are eagerly awaiting the warmer weather.
During the month of February, the children enjoyed learning about Valentine’s Day. They especially enjoyed spreading love to their friends by handing out Valentine’s at large group.
Lately the children have shown interest in animals, insects, and science. They have loved the Bug Lab dramatic play centre in our classroom and have had so much fun hunting for bugs all around the room with their friends.
The children have also been learning the letters in their names and practicing printing them, along with the letters from their friends’ names. We are expanding on this interest with different activities at circle time, different writing tools, and accessible practice sheets for the children.
Just a reminder that March break is March 16th – March 20th, please let us know if there are any changes to your children’s schedule for that week if you haven’t already.
St. Patrick’s Day is Tuesday, March 17th, please send your little leprechauns to school in all green that day!

March 2026
During the month of February, we spent a lot of time focusing on letters, recognizing them visually, learning the sounds they make, and practicing writing them. As we move into March, we plan on introducing the Jolly Phonics songs. These little songs incorporate letter sounds and actions to make learning phonics more memorable and fun.
We also spent a week working on our “All About Me” pages. This brought up discussions of what we want to be when we grow up which led to learning about community helpers. We added a doctor/veterinarian to our dramatic play centre after children showed interest, including one child who gave a stuffed animal X-rays with the light table.
This month we have a few special days we would like to celebrate. Starting on Tuesday the 17th, we will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Please help us celebrate by wearing green and any St. Paddy’s Day accessories you may have. On March 31st, we will be celebrating Crayon Day (from our Holiday-A-Day Calendar). For Crayon Day, we encourage the children to dress in their favourite colour. In the afternoon we will making our own crayons, as well as having a face painting session.
With March Break approaching (16th– 20th), please let staff know if there will be any changes to your child’s schedule. Thank- you!
