Preschool Room #2 News

April was full of discovery for the children. Their interest included spring, shapes, letters, and of course Easter.

Easter was an extremely exciting time in our class as the children went on many egg hunts. They  found many different objects in their eggs and they worked at sorting them into categories. This as encouraged the children to problem solve.

The children have enjoyed talking about shapes and discovering them in the world around us. Learning the different characteristics of shapes and how different shapes can be used to create something entirely new. We have used shapes to create pictures, birds and even had fun drawing different shapes in shaving cream.

Letters have also been a big focus in our class. The children have been working on recognizing all the letters in their names, the sounds each letter makes and how they can be put together to make words through our jolly phonics songs. We have been practising tracing and writing the letters in our names, including some fun art activities.

As we move into warmer weather, we ask that you please send a hat and sun screen with your child as we have little shade in your yard . We are looking forward to seeing what the month of May will bring.

Reminder: We are closed Monday May 24th for Victoria Day. Enjoy the time spent with your family.
