Preschool Room #1 News

Snow!!! We have snow. The children have had so much fun in the little bit of snow that we have gotten. The first  bit in January was barely a covering but it was enough to make the slide super fun!! We were able to get the big shovels out as well. Hopefully we will get some snowman making snow pretty soon.

We brought some snow inside in a jar to show the children what happens when it gets warm and how dirty the snow is that they think is so tasty.   Next, we are going to make a little snowman in the jar and see what happens to him in the sun. We have been singing lots of songs that talk about how he melts in the  sun.

Sometimes we are stuck inside because the temperature is too cold.  We try to find some fun activities to keep us busy, such as games, obstacle courses, and playdoh. Different things that we don’t tend to do everyday. The children also enjoy yoga and dancing.

Valentine’s Day is February 14th. Please dress your child in pink or red to celebrate. If you choose to send valentines with your child, we ask that you bring them with your child’s name on them. Your child will be able to hand them out to their friends during circle time. We will ensure that every child receives some even if your child does not attend that day.

Just a reminder that Story Book ELC will be closed on Monday, February 19th for Family Day, we hope you have a great time with your family.

Preschool Room #2 News

It’s been a great first month of 2024. The children have been having so much fun with all the snow activities outside. We have been sledding, shovelling, and making snowmen. Another reminder that vinyl mittens are the best in keeping the children’s little fingers warm and dry as we enjoy our outdoor time.

Inside, our interest has taken us to The Artic! We have been discussing the different animals that live in the snow. We’ve been learning about what they eat and how they live in the cold. We have been using the word “camouflage” a lot in these learning opportunities, as many of the animals are white to blend in to the snow. The children have been enjoying our interest table with all the artic animals. They have been building habitats for them and applying their new knowledge into their play!

It looks like our interest is also headed to hibernation, due to questions being asked like “Where are all the squirrels?” and “Why are the bears sleeping?”. This will also tie in nicely to our Groundhog Day activities.

February 14th is Valentines Day. Please help us spread the love and wear pink and red. The children are also welcomed to bring valentines for their friends if you choose to.

FYI: February 21st is Kindergarten Open House from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm for all schools.
