Kindergarten News

We’ve had a very busy summer so far in the kindergarten room!  We’ve celebrated the kick-off to summer by painting fireworks (with pinecones), and sampling ice cream.  We’ve engaged in many carnival activities, such as the “ball-in-the-basket” game, the “fishing pond”, the “feed-the-monster” sponge toss, and the “character cut-out” photo prop game.  We’ve completed our “Week of Sports”, playing carpet hockey, ball toss, soccer, basketball, and some hula hoop games.

Perhaps our favourite, so far this summer, was when the firetruck came for Water Day, and our recent trip to the fire department.  Blasting the water hose, with the firefighters, was the BEST!!!

As August arrives, this kindergarten crew is looking forward to our “Down with Disney” week and getting to dress as our favourite characters.  A couple more water days are in the works, and our “Ocean” week is sure to be lots of fun with all our underwater adventures.  We’ll be letting our “wacky” side show, with a Crazy Hair Day, and by wearing our pajamas to school!

And as your little ones may have already demonstrated, they are learning LOTS of languages!  Our crew can count, in both Spanish & French, sing our morning greetings in Spanish, and are learning to use their fingers to recite the letters of the alphabet!  We will continue practicing our sign language to learn our numbers from 1 to 10, and the names of animals.  We’ll also learn simple commands and phrases in all of our languages!

We’ve got an incredibly SMART AND AMAZING group.  They are VERY helpful, demonstrate kindness on a daily basis, and are hoping to “get caught” doing something wonderful!  So far, so good!

Just a reminder we will be closed Monday September 3rd for Labour day. Have a great long weekend.
