Kindergarten News
August 2026
Our first month of summer break was a whirlwind of fun and activities! Our kindergarten crew created so many amazing moments and shared lots of laughs together.
The beginning of August brings along the Civic holiday. Please note that Story Book Early Learning Centre will be closed on Monday, August 3rd. We hope that you enjoy the long weekend with friends and family.
August is a great month for snacking! With National Watermelon Day, National S’mores Day, and Trail Mix Day, we’ll be diving into some deliciousness in the upcoming weeks!
Our Kindergarten crew are fortunate, this summer, to be doing a few more “walking” field trips around our community. We are planning another visit, for some stories and games, at the Essex Library, and a trip to Ice Cool Treats. We’ll also finish up the summer with a visit to Dominoes, where we’ll make our own individual pizzas, which will be baked and delivered to the school, just in time for lunch!
Ms. Hannah will continue with our weekly dance lesson in the gym (which everyone seems to enjoy). We’ll also be adopting wild animals, going on a safari, learning to hula dance, and make fruit kabobs (at our annual Hawaiian luau). Dinosaurs are on the docket mid month, where our JK/SKs will transform into palaeontologists. The “big dig” will surely keep them busy as they discover dinosaur tracks and bones! We’ll also have a graduation party to celebrate those who are moving on from kindergarten and partake in a huge SURPRISE that has been planned for the children.
With a couple more surprises on “lunch provided” days, some picnics, popsicles, and a bit of playground fun, our summer will soon be coming to an end. Here, in the kindergarten room, we plan to make the most of every minute!
Reminder our last day of summer programming is Friday, September 4th and we are closed Monday, September 7th for Labor Day.
