Infant Room #1 News

May 2026

“Rain, rain go away….”

Hopefully we will have a warm and sunny May. Therefore, we can enjoy more time outdoors as our infants thrive when going on walks, playing outside, and exploring nature. Just as a reminder weather is constantly fluctuating, and we go outside early in the morning, so please ensure you bring weather appropriate clothing for your child. As the temperature rises, we also ask all our families to provide a labelled sunhat.

Lately, we have been learning about spring and all the wonderful changes we have discovered around us. We have loved singing songs and reading books together, as we explored the season. Over the past month, the infants engaged in sensory play focused on insects, nests and eggs, and growing flowers. We also noticed many other signs of spring which sparked these interests.

For the month of May and June, we are going to focus on celebrating our moms, dads and extended family. We ask all our Infant 1 families to please send a photo through Lillio (if we don’t already have one already), to post in the classroom so we can talk about all the special people in our lives. We also will be working on making beautiful artwork for our mothers for Mother’s Day.

Story Book Early Learning Centre will be closed Monday, May 18th for the Victoria Day holiday . We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.

Infant Room #2 News

May 2026

Time is flying by, and our babies are growing and changing before our eyes. Last month, we really worked on self help skills with the babies. We have been encouraging them to use a spoon independently and have been practicing our steps. We have also been working on our words, by either signing or saying simple words such as “more” and “all done.” The infants have been loving the warmer weather. They have been exploring the yard more as most of our friends are walking independently, they absolutely love all the freedom. We ask that you please bring some outdoor shoes and an appropriate change of clothes for the weather including a spring coat and a sunhat.

When indoors, the infants love looking out the classroom window and watching the spring scenery. They love seeing the birds look for worms in the ground and watching them fly away. They also love watching our next-door neighbours work and see their cranes lift materials up and down. On rainy days we have been doing gross motor activities such as climbing foam blocks and dancing with instruments. We will expand on these interests this next month!

We would love to wish all the Infant #2 moms a Happy Mother’s Day! Reminder that on May 18th we will be closed for Victoria Day.
