November 2026

Welcome November, we have enjoyed the sunny and warm weather that October brought us! The mornings were a bit cool but by afternoon we were able to ditch our coats on most days. We expect that cooler weather will be approaching soon, please make sure your child has weather appropriate clothing for our early morning outdoor play. With that said, before you purchase gloves, we ask that you send mittens. We try to promote self help skills, and the children have a difficult time getting their fingers into all the finger holes.

The children have been fascinated with the leaves on the trees changing colours. They have been having so much fun raking and collecting the leaves in the sand pails. A few friends have really worked at making piles of leaves even with the little amount that we have.

Halloween was a hot topic last month; we heard about so many different costumes that they had chosen to wear. We were very interested to see if what they told us matched their actual costume. We were able to verify many of them at our annual Halloween Open House. We hope everyone enjoyed the Open House, we enjoyed seeing all the children in their costumes.

Remembrance Day is Wednesday November 11th, help us remember by dressing your child in red as we will be open. However, this may be a holiday for some, please let us know if your child will not be attending. Thank you, we are looking forward to another great month!

November 2026

October was a fun month discussing the different holidays. We learned about Truth and Reconciliation Day, Thanksgiving, and Halloween.

The preschoolers worked very hard to decorate the classroom for the Halloween open house. They were so proud to show everyone all their artwork, pictures, and more. We hope those who came had just as much fun as we did!

We had so much fun collecting leaves, exploring pumpkins, acorns, and pinecones. This led us into our fall inquiry where we learned about signs of fall, and why the leaves change. We loved using our microscope, magnifying glasses and tools to explore the insides of pumpkins and apples. This encouraged us to learn more about how fall fruits grow.

During the month of November, we will continue our kindergarten readiness skills. Our October focus was recognizing the first letter in our name and practicing writing our names. This goal was introduced in many fun ways throughout the day. At circle, the children were encouraged to find their name tag and answer our question of the day. While at art, letters were cut and glued, as well as tracing papers and dry erase makers were left out for a quiet activity after sleep.

We will be continuing to focus on honing our fine motor skills, holding pencils, markers and crayons properly as well as cutting and holding scissors safely. There are many ways to practice these skills at home and school, please encourage your child to draw, write, and create using these tools whenever possible.

In recognition of Remembrance Day on Wednesday, November 11th, we invite everyone to wear red in honour of this important day of remembrance.

As always, we will go into November following the children’s lead and interests, we can’t wait to see where our learning will take us!
