July 2026

Hooray!! Summer is officially here. We’ve already had several hot days. We try to stay cool by painting with water or building in the shade with our large building pieces. When a heat warning is issued, we try to get outside for a shortened time in the morning and opt out of our outside time in the afternoon. We hope there aren’t too many heat-warning days this summer, as the children always look forward to going outside.

Over the spring we witnessed two robin families building nests and feeding their young under the pergola in the yard. It was fun to watch the babies grow, unfortunately they left during the last weekend of June, and their nests are now empty. We also spotted another nest in a nearby tree, though those babies are nearly ready to leave as well. We hope to see more next spring!

In this room we aim to promote self-help skills such as pulling down and pulling up our own bottoms and putting on and taking off our shoes. By continuing to practice these skills at home helps your child gain confidence and supports a positive daily routine. Your support helps our classroom run smoothly and we greatly appreciate all your help.

Just a reminder that Story Book will be closed on Monday, August 3rd for the Civic holiday. Hope you have a great long weekend. If you still haven’t submitted your vacation schedule and plan on taking vacation, please let us know so we can staff accordingly.
