July 2026

Summer has officially arrived! Summer brings the sun and the heat, if you could please bring a hat for your child, it would be greatly appreciated.

The children have really been enjoying all the fun that summer brings; bikes, bubbles, chalk, and water play have been their favourite activities thus far. They love racing the bikes around the track, drawing pictures and writing their names with chalk, washing it away, and doing it all over again!

For our dramatic play, the children enjoyed our campground. They would ‘sleep’ in the tent, roast marshmallows, and use the binoculars on their ‘hike’ to get a closer look at all the animals.

Familiar stories have been a major interest for our class. We read and acted out different nursery rhymes and fairytales. The Three Little Pigs was our favorite. Also, we celebrated Father’s Day by talking about our dads and other special grown ups in our lives. We shared what we love about them and our favourite things to do together.

We can’t wait to see what the rest of summer brings! If you have any vacations planned don’t forget to let the office or your child’s teachers know. As a reminder we will be closed Monday, August 3rd for the Civic Holiday.

The countdown to kindergarten is on! We can’t believe how fast the year is flying. Some of our friends have already “graduated” from our classroom. Those staying to spend the summer with us we are planning on making the most of the last few months together. Our “Preschool Prom” was so much fun last month and we’re working so hard to come up with some more exciting things to celebrate. Keep an eye out for a summer calendar for all the details!

Over the last month the kids have shown a great interest in playing guessing games. Whether they are teacher-led games during large group, games of I-spy during snack and lunch times, or simply free-play games such as “bug in the rug” or “I’m thinking of someone,” they’ve all been showing off their impressive critical thinking and memory skills!

If you have not already let us know of any days your child may be away this summer, please do so as soon as possible. Reminder: Story Book ELC will be closed Monday, August 3rd for the Civic Holiday. We hope you enjoy the time off with your family!
