Toddler Room #1

August already! We are hoping summer slows down just a little. I’m sure all of you are enjoying summer just as much as we are.

We are having so much fun outdoors. The bikes and water play have been our consistent go to activities all summer and we can’t believe how well the toddlers are getting at peddling a tricycle.

For the month of August, we are learning all about basic nutrition. We will discuss vegetables and fruits, different food groups, and treats. The toddlers have  been very vocal about what they like and do not like.  The children have also been working hard on their utensil skills at lunch.  We assist the toddlers with grasping the spoon and loading the lunch onto the utensil.

Along with lunch self help skills, we are also super focused on potty training. The toddlers have an opportunity to sit on the toilet at every bathroom routine. The staff assist the children in pulling their pants up and down and hand over hand handwashing as well. Thank-you for all your continued support with these activities in your home.

We would like to welcome all our new little friends; we are so excited to get to know them! We will miss our older friends moving to the preschool room but know you are ready for this exciting adventure.

Just a reminder that we are closed Monday, August 4th for the Civic Holiday, as well as Monday, September 1st for Labour Day.

Toddler Room #2

We can’t believe summer is almost over! We have had a “fun filled” summer so far in Toddler 2. We have talked about all the different activities we can do during the summer months. We have had lots of fun playing on the playground with chalk and keeping cool with water play.

Many of the children have been going on vacations. We love sharing the stories about the fun summer activities we do at home, during the weekends, and on vacations. Some of our children have returned sharing stories about going camping with friends and family.

We have extended our inquiry about camping during small group, large group, and free play. The children love singing “bear hunt” and learning about all the different animals they see while camping. During small group we have made campfires, smores, tents, and lanterns.

Reminders: Please send a labeled hat for your little one. We do go outside for an hour in the morning and afternoon each day. We will also be closed Monday, September 1st for Labour Day.
