Toddler Room #1

October was such a fun month. The toddlers loved talking about fall and especially Halloween. This sparked a lot of interest and conversation about the leaves changing colours. They would notice and point out the orange leaves falling from our tree in the yard. We added a sensory bin of leaves where the children could look for the hidden acorns and spiders. Such messy fun!

Circle Time is always a favourite with the toddlers. Exploring pumpkins and gourds, singing songs, reading books, and performing flannel stories about Halloween were just a few of the things we enjoyed at circle time this month. “Pumpkin, Pumpkin What Do You See?” and “The Polka Dot Ghost” were just some of the class favourites.

We are working on self help skills in our room. This includes encouraging the children to eat with a spoon and fork, take off and put on their shoes, and put on their coat using the “flip method”. We know this sometimes takes a little longer when getting ready, but they are important skills to learn. Thank you for your cooperation.

If you have the Remembrance Day holiday off, please let teachers know if your child will not be attending.

Just a reminder we are outside morning and afternoon. Please send warm coats, hats, and mittens.

Toddler Room #2

Throughout October we discussed all things Fall, Thanksgiving, and Halloween. The toddlers had so much fun learning about Halloween. The ghosts in particular were one of their favourite topics. Many of the children pretended to be ghosts themselves by putting blankets over their heads and making spooky sounds, as well as yelling “Boo!” We loved hearing all about their trick or treat adventures and their costumes.

As the weather turns colder, please remember to send your child with weather appropriate clothing, including a jacket, hats, and mittens (please no gloves). And we ask that you please label your child’s belongings as this helps to keep items from getting lost.
