Infant Room #1 News

It’s Fall, Y’all! We want to send out a special thank you to all who participated in our Halloween Open House. We had a great turn out and we loved seeing all the infants in their cute little costumes.

With the cool weather approaching, we are asking parents to send hats, coats, mittens, shoes, and snow pants if needed. So, we can continue to get outside everyday and experience all fall has to offer. Just a reminder to double check your child’s spare clothes to ensure they are seasonally appropriate and labeled.

We have been busy creating Thanksgiving and Halloween art to decorate our classrooms and your homes. The children love to explore different ways to create their masterpieces.

We have also been exploring the parts of a pumpkin. We took turns washing and then examining the pumpkins, followed by a sensory bag activity where they got to experience the insides of the pumpkins. Lastly, we used the pumpkin halves to do some filling and dumping in water play!

Next, we are going to be talking about all the changes we are seeing on our walks and time outside.  Many children have been noticing the leaves on the ground, all the squirrels, and even the cooler weather.

Story Book Early Learning Centre will be closed Wednesday, December 24th for the Christmas holidays and will re-open Friday, January 2nd.

Infant Room #2 News

This last month has been so much fun in the infant room. We have really gotten to know the babies, each with their own amazing personalities. We are now in full swing and are really looking forward to the months to come.

Thank you to all the families who attended our Halloween Open House. It was a great success, and we loved seeing all the children in their costumes! The infants enjoyed creating the fall and spooky artwork to display for the event. For some of their creations they used bingo dabbers to make cauldron bubbles, and we even painted their hands and feet to make pumpkins and apples. They also created trees full of different coloured leaves, corn, and ghosts using paint. Our favourite small group activity had to be exploring the pumpkin seed sensory bags.

This group of babies love music! They enjoy listening to music and bouncing to the rhythm. To enhance this interest several different instruments were added to the classroom shelves for them to explore. Listening to music and moving to the beat can help babies learn to recognize small differences between sounds. Dancing can enhance gross motor skills such as coordination and balance, as well as fine motor skills by gripping maracas and shakers. We look forward to seeing what our next interest will be.
