Toddler Room #1News
October was such a fun month! The toddlers loved talking about fall and especially Halloween. This sparked a lot of interest and conversation about the leaves changing colours. They often noticed the orange leaves falling from our trees in the yard and would point them out. This month, we added a rice sensory bin where the children could look for leaves, acorns and spiders. Such messy fun!
Circle time is always a favourite with the toddlers, exploring pumpkins and gourds, singing songs, reading books, and flannel stories. “Pumpkin, pumpkin what do you see?”, and “go away spooky ghost” were just some of the stories and songs they enjoyed this month.
We are currently working on developing self help skills in our room. This includes encouraging them to eat with a spoon and fork, take off their shoes and put them on, and put on their coats using the flip method. We know this sometimes may take a little longer during transitions, but they are important skills for your children to practice. Please also remember we are out mornings and afternoons. We ask you kindly to send warm coats, hats, and mittens, and ensure that all items are properly labelled. Thank you for your continued cooperation.
If your child will not be attending due to the Remembrance Day Holiday on November 11th, please let us know in advance. There is also a PD Day November 14th, please ensure to let us know if this affects your childcare needs.
Additional reminders: Story Book Early Learning Centre will be closed Wednesday, December 24th for the Christmas holidays and will re-open Friday, January 2nd.
Toddler Room #2 News
October is always such a fun month in the toddler room. We have talked a lot about fall and Halloween. Sensory play, circle time and decorating our room for our annual Halloween trick or treat has kept us busy. Thank you so much to all those who came out, it was another successful night. We love seeing all our little friend’s costumes and smiles.
As always, we are working on self help skills in our room. Eating with a spoon and fork, taking off and putting on our shoes, and putting on our coats. (We use the flip method). We know this takes more time, but we find this works best when encouraged both at home and at school.
Reminder that we go outside morning and afternoon. Please send warm coats, hats and mittens and please ensure to label your items. With 15 toddlers things easily get mixed up.
Just a heads up that we are closed Wednesday, December 24th and reopen Friday, January 2nd for the Christmas Holiday.
