Toddler Room #1 News

Welcome to the new school year!

We had a very busy summer with the toddlers, we have had a lot of hands on experiences with summer activities and summer foods. The toddlers especially enjoyed the corn shucking and potato making. We took them outside to shuck the corn and wash it. Mr. Ian boiled the corn for us, and we ate it for snack.

The potato mash was also a big hit! They participated in washing the potatoes,  Mrs. Vicky peeled them as they watched, and Mr. Ian boiled them. When they were cooked, we mashed them as a group and ate them for snack. We talked about the farmer’s planting the crops and picking them for us to enjoy.

We look forward to providing your children with rich learning experiences this upcoming year.

Reminder: We will be closed on Monday September 5th for Labour Day. Have a safe and happy holiday!

Toddler Room #2 News

Its hard to believe that summer is coming to an end. We hope everyone soaked up the sun and enjoyed their family vacations. Although we are sad to say good bye to summer we are very excited to say hello to a new ‘school’ year.

During the month of August, we spent a lot of time talking about community helpers. The toddlers had lots of fun dressing up in different uniforms and acting out many careers. They especially enjoyed exploring the different dramatic play items such as tools to be a construction worker, food to be a chef, hair salon to be a hair stylist, doctors kits and more! We were able to learn about other community helpers through art activities such as painting with a toothbrush as dentists, making spaceships as astronauts, and using different textured materials to create hair as hair stylists.

With the new school year approaching we look forward to welcoming, and getting to know, the new friends and families to our classroom.

Reminder: Story Book ELC will be closed Monday September 5th for Labour Day. We hope you enjoy your holiday!
