Toddler Room #1

The last few weeks we have had a lot of interest in learning all about safari/zoo animals. The toddlers have had a lot of fun learning the names of new animals, hearing the sounds they make, new songs, reading lots of animal books, and of course animal crafts. We’ve had a few friends share all about their zoo visits.

Summer is quickly approaching. We ask that you please let the staff know if your child care needs will change for the summer as well as any planned vacations. This helps with our staffing.

We go outside twice a day.  Although we do apply sunscreen the sun is very hot. We ask that you send or leave a sun hat in your child’s cubby.

Father’s Day is June 16th. We wish all our Dads and Grandpas a very special day.

Reminder that we are closed Monday July 1st for Canada Day.

Toddler Room #2

We have had so much fun this past month learning all about our community helpers. Firefighters, hairdressers, and construction workers were some of the classroom favourites. A hair salon was set up on the carpet and the toddlers had a blast doing their own hair as well as taking turns doing the hair of the teachers and friends. Outside the toddlers used tools to ‘fix’ the playground as well as the bikes, while pretending to be construction workers.

The toddlers love watching for different vehicles throughout the day. We spend lots of time watching the Hydro One trucks out our classroom window and on Tuesdays we get to watch the garbage truck stop at both Hydro One and Essex Public School. During outside time the toddlers have started to recognize the sounds of airplanes and the sirens of emergency vehicles. When they hear them, they will search their surroundings for the corresponding vehicle. If you are interested Meet a Machine is happening Saturday, June 8th  at the WFCU Centre, this event allows your child to come face to face with some of these cool machines.

Just a reminder Story Book ELC will be closed Monday, July 1st for Canada Day. Enjoy your long weekend.
