“Summer days, nice and long,

makes me want to sing a song.

It is hot and dry, but I still sing

when I hear the ice cream truck’s bells ring.

Snow-cones and ice pops keep me cool,

Oh, how I love the pool!

Summer speeds by so fast,

how I wish these days would last.

For when it ends, I must abandon my pool,

I really dread going back to my school.

But in the end, it will suffice

because I had the best summer of my life.”

The school age children have kicked off the summer with many exciting activities and adventures! The children enjoyed the outdoors, we soaked up some sun during our water day as we played many exciting water activities. The Essex Fire Department visited us and soaked us with their fire hoses. The children also had an opportunity to ask the fire fighters questions about their job.

Not only have we spent a lot of time outdoors, but we have brought the fun inside! The children had an opportunity to take part in some skipping lessons with Miss Emma who is also a dedicated member of the Essex Energizers.

This summer we participated in some activities away from the school as well. We walked to the library where we took part in belly dancing, we walked to Iler lodge where we played some games as well as did some painting and reading to some of the residents. We had a great time at the Fire Hall where we got to look over the trucks as well as spray the hose and put out a fire (pretend of course). We look forward too many more exciting adventures in August and plan to have a great ending to the summer.

Just a reminder that we will be closed Monday September 3rd for Labour Day. Have a great long weekend.

Please be sure to inform staff of any changes or needs for before or after school care for your child.
