Happy summer! During the month of June, we were excited to finally change the season on our classroom calendar. The children’s excitement led to counting down the days until the first day of summer, which we celebrated with a summer party. The preschoolers have begun discussing their vacation plans and we can’t wait to hear all about them. We ask that when you know the dates for your summer travels that you let us know to allow us to have appropriate staffing.
Some of our friends have already visited their cottages and been on camping trips. This month our dramatic play centre was a camp ground. This included a tent, pop up RV, camping supplies such as a sleeping bag, lanterns and flashlights, fire with s’mores, hot dogs to roast, and more. On our “camping trips” we also found bugs in our sensory bin. While outside we loved to find real bugs and learn about them.
In our final months of preschool, we have been working on continuing our kindergarten readiness skills. This includes using name tracing sheets, practicing our numbers, letters and the sounds they make, shapes and more. Our goal is to make the transition to kindergarten as easy as possible. We are also working on making it as fun as possible with more special days. We will be hosting a Christmas in July party, celebrating Wacky Wednesday, and adding onto the interests of the preschoolers.
We were very sad to say goodbye to a few of our friends at the end of June as they had their last day of preschool. We will miss them dearly and hope they have a blast at ‘big school!’ This led to the preschooler asking how many more days until they go to kindergarten. Everyone is very excited! We have welcome arms to our new members of the Preschool 3 family and look forward to spending our final months all together learning and making memories.
