Preschool Room # 2 News

We can’t believe summer is coming to an end. Hopefully Mother Nature doesn’t hear that it’s already September and continues to bring us beautiful weather.

It’s time to say goodbye to some of our older friends that are moving on to Kindergarten. The teachers at Story Book watched most of you grow from infants and even though it is sad to see you all go, we are excited for you as you head on to your next adventure. We are so proud of you all and know that you will all thrive in big school.

It’s been lots of fun in our room the last month.  Based on the children’s suggestions, we turned our dramatic play into a movie theatre. The children brainstormed together as to what activities and props the movie theatre should have. This obviously inspired us to have our own “movie day” with popcorn. We all voted on what movie to watch and Frozen won.

With the recent thunderstorms, the children became very interested in the weather and what they saw. They were asking questions such as “What makes thunder?”, “Why do black clouds rain and not white?”, and “Where does the sun go when it’s storming?” The children loved the experiment we did, where a sponge (cloud) was filled with water drops and they could see how the water got heavy in our cloud and changed colour (became a rain cloud). The children then watched the water fall out of the bottom (rain).
