We are off to an exciting start here in preschool #2! We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all the new families and children that have moved up into our classroom! The children are settling into their new routines and many new friendships have developed! We are so excited to see what adventures this year will bring, and we cannot wait to get to know your children and watch them grow and learn!

We have kicked off this new school year by discussing a mix of topics including manners, hygiene, and friendship. We have spent time at circle reading stories about manners and participated in discussions about table manners and how to treat others. The children have also participated in interactive games that encourage conflict resolution and sharing in many different scenarios. As the fall season approaches, we will inevitably run into cold and flu season therefore we have been teaching the children about germs and how they can make us sick, but also ways to prevent illness. We have been discussing the importance of proper hand washing techniques and they sure get lots of practice washing their hands during the day!

We look forward to a new month of fun and exploration as we transition into the fall season! We plan to create play-based emergent curriculum that will enhance skills in all areas of development. We will begin to introduce the skills to encourage kindergarten readiness! Fall is full of fun new learning opportunities! In October, we will celebrate Thanksgiving and Halloween! We would like to remind parents that we will be celebrating Halloween on October 31st by wearing orange and black!

There are a couple reminders to parents. As the weather becomes cooler, please ensure your children are dressed accordingly. Our outside time is first thing in the morning, so the air is definitely a little cooler. This is also a good time to check your child’s change of clothes kept here at school as the colder weather approaches, and please remember underwear too. We would also like to remind parents that toys from home are not brought to school.

Reminder: Story Book ELC will be closed Monday, October 10th for Thanksgiving. We wish all our families a wonderful long weekend!

Save the date: Open House Thursday October 27th, more details to follow!
