Preschool Room #1

Happy spring! We are hoping that spring will bring us some sunny warm weather. It will be nice to be able to play outside without snow pants. Please continue to send winter gear with your children and the teachers will use their discretion as to whether we need it or not.

The children have been noticing signs of spring, specifically our robin friend that returns each year to make a nest in our pergola. It will be interesting to see how many eggs she has in her nest this year. It is always a great learning experience for the children to observe her making her nest, laying  her eggs and waiting for them to hatch. Outside we have great discussions about how she cares for her babies. It’s always a sad day when the babies fly away.

We participated in Hats on for Health Care last month. For a small donation the children were able to wear a hat for the day. We raised $300 to support Windsor Regional Hospital’s – Paediatrics Program & NICU.

April will bring a lot of talk about the Easter bunny. We will learn a lot of fun facts about bunnies. As well as learning many songs and playing games pertaining to Easter.

Just a reminder Story Book will be closed on Friday April 7th for Good Friday and Monday April 10th for Easter Monday. Have a Hoppy Easter!

Preschool Room #2

Spring is here and the children have been noticing the changes outside. Brooklyn commented that the sun is already out when she comes to school now, Gracie was excited when she saw birds out our window, and Leighten made the observation that the trees are getting buds on their branches. We will be talking about all these signs of Spring as well as others in the coming weeks.

The children have been enjoying our “3 Little Pigs” centre. They especially love using the houses they all worked so hard together making. All of the children showed lots of interest getting into character and acting out the familiar story. We will continue to support this interest by adding different costumes and props from other familiar stories so the children can continue to work and present together.

We would like to thank everyone for all the pet or stuffy pictures that we received for our “Pet Wall of Fame.” All the children are still very excited to show off the furry members of their family to their friends. Some children feel comfort to see their familiar faces when they feel a little unsure.

The other day some of they children were pretending that their dinosaur was sick and had to go to the hospital, so we added some doctor’s tools to the carpet area. We may be seeing a veterinarian clinic go up in our dramatic play in the near future.

Last month we participated in “Hats on for Healthcare” and raised money for Windsor Regional’s Paediatrics Program and NICU. Thank you to everyone who donated.

Just a reminder that Story Book will be closed Friday, April 7th  for Good Friday as well as Monday, April 10th  for Easter Monday. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Easter.
