Preschool Room #1 News

We are off to a great start to the new school year. The children that have moved to our room are adjusting well and enjoying the many new and different toys offered. The dinky cars are one of their favourite items as well as the “real” pretend phones. Some of the children during free play can be found caring for their babies or serving up food to their customers.

The children are starting to notice all the wonderful signs of fall. They have already started to collect the coloured leaves in buckets, dump trucks or whatever else they can find to put them in. We haven’t had much cooler weather to warrant sweaters for our outside time, but the time is coming. Please also check to make sure your child has appropriate clothing for all the types of weather we could expect.

Halloween is just around the corner, we do not wear costumes at school but encourage you to dress your child in black and orange. If you choose to send treats (not required) with your child, please ensure that they are peanut and nut free.

This month we will be working on self help skills. This includes encouraging the children to put on their own socks and shoes, pulling up their own pants, and putting on their coats using the flip method. We know this sometimes takes a little longer when getting ready, but they are important skills to learn. Thanks for your cooperation!

We would like to invite our families to our Open House that will take place on Monday, October 27th from 6:00-7:00 pm. Please join us for a Halloween themed evening, where the children can trick or treat from classroom to classroom. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

Just a reminder that Story Book ELC will be closed on Monday, October 13th for Thanksgiving. Gobble Gobble.
