Preschool Room #1

Welcome Spring!!! The month of April bought us a mix of different weather, let’s hope May will be full of warmer days. With the nice  weather comes the sun, if you choose to send a hat for your child, please label it. This helps us to avoid confusion and misplaced belongings. Thank you in advance.

Now that spring has arrived, we will start applying sunscreen. Story Book will supply the sunscreen; we have an unscented paba-free hypo allergenic SPF 50 broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen. If you have chosen to use your own  sunblock, we ask that you apply it at home before arriving in the morning and if you would like it reapplied in the afternoon, please supply us with some.

We have been excited to see lots of bugs outside and sometimes even inside. We have been learning to identify all sorts of insects and simple facts about each one. We have also learned some songs about bugs. It is certain that our interest in these “creepy crawly” creatures will continue for some time.

Our friend the robin has also come back to make a nest in our pergola again. We hope to be able to watch the process from eggs, to babies, to their moms feeding them. It is always so fascinating.

This month we will celebrate all our wonderful mothers. Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday May 11th. A mother is like a flower, each one is beautiful and unique.

Reminder we will be closed on Monday May 19th for the Victoria Day holiday.

Reminder: Re-registration forms are due back Friday, May 30th.

Preschool Room #2

Spring is in full bloom and the children are excited everyday to go outside and explore the changes this season has to bring.  They have been busy picking dandelions, finding bugs and checking on our robin nest that was built on our pergola. We were lucky enough to watch the nest grow as the robins built it and can’t wait to see eggs. We are taking this teachable moment to learn about how nests are made, as well as why the mommy sits on her eggs and what is happening inside those eggs before hatching.

We will also be learning about the changes that we see outside. Our interest  table will have a garden in it along with toy insects. We will also be learning parts of a plant by growing our own plants.

Inside we have been doing a lot of building “pirate ships” and pretending to sail the seas.  We are going to take this interest and turn the dramatic play centre into a pirate ship! We also will be learning how to read maps, making telescopes and learning about boats and ocean animals.

Just a reminder that we are closed Monday, May 19th for Victoria Day. We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.

Reminder: Re-registration forms are due back Friday, May 30th.

We would like to wish all the moms a very Happy Mother’s Day.
