Kindergarten News

In the past few weeks, we have been learning a lot about “hibernation”, here in Kindergarten.  We know that some animals burrow into holes in the ground, some sleep underwater in the bottom of ponds, and some choose to find shelter in caves & hollowed out trees.  Others, we know, choose to “migrate” by moving south (to warmer climates) for the winter.  Our kindergarten crew was happy to find, that even though most insects hibernate, a ladybug has chosen to stay right here in our classroom for now.  We’re feeling very lucky!

Our Kindness Campaign continues as these caring students have taken on the responsibility of keeping our play yard clean.  Bothered by the garbage (that gets blown along our fence), these little crusaders decided to jump into action, grocery bags in hand.  Our outdoor play space has never looked so good!

Lots of exciting things are coming our way, as we step into the month of December, including Miss Kelly’s absolute favourite time of year!  All things “Christmas” are about to erupt in the JK/SK room!

We’ll be jumping into the holiday season by decking the classroom in holiday décor.  Lots of artwork will soon be covering our bulletin boards, and Christmas music will fill the air.  Holiday stories, games, and finger-plays will occupy our circle time, and we’ll likely hear all about parades, tree decorating, Santa lists, and special baking days, during our everyday conversation.

We cannot say for sure, but there has been rumour of a certain visitor that may come to spend the month with us.  He is dressed in red, wears a stocking cap, and reports back to Santa every night.  He’s a little on the mischievous side, too!  These kindergarten friends are anxious to find out who it might be!

Just a reminder, Story Book will be closed for the holidays starting Friday, December 24th, and will return on Monday, January 3rd.  We wish you all a safe & happy holiday!
