Do April showers really bring May flowers? We are certainly eager to find out!  Our JK/SK crew have been tracking the rainy days and watching for colourful flowers to start popping up in nearby gardens.

According to our “A Holiday Every Day” calendar, we have a lot to celebrate this month!

  • On Friday, May 2nd, “Play Your Ukulele Day,” our kindergarten students will be making music.  Ms. Kelly has a real ukulele and will be bringing it in to school to share with the children.
  • May 5th is “Astronaut Day,” so we’ll try our best to have “a blast” during our outer space themed circle.
  • Thursday, May 8th, is McHappy Day – a chance to support the Ronald McDonald House charities. We encourage our friends to wear red/yellow, or even McDonald’s gear, if they have any.

We can’t forget our moms this Mother’s Day.  We’ll be doing crafts, reading stories, and discussing ways that we can celebrate her on her special day!

Our kindergarten friends are definitely looking forward to the middle of the month, as “Dance Like A Chicken Day” will have them rocking to the chicken dance at circle time. Also, we’ll be asking Mr. Ian to help us out with a special after school snack on “Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!”

As always, Story Book Early Learning Centre will be closed on Monday, May 19th, for the Victoria Day weekend.  We hope that all of our kindergarten crew enjoy a fun filled weekend with friends and family.

Lastly, we are contemplating just how one might celebrate “Paperclip Day” on the 29th of May.  If a box isn’t always a box, perhaps a paperclip isn’t always a paperclip.  Please stay tuned to see what kind of ideas our clever crew come up with!

One last reminder to return your “summer childcare request form” asap, to ensure your child’s space in our program.  Thanks!
