After all the holiday excitement, the Kindergarten crew is looking forward to welcoming a new year full of new possibilities. As some of us return to school in January (a little earlier than the rest), we’ll be celebrating the new year with a countdown, watching the ball drop, noise makers, and good cheer! We are ready for 2024!

The weather as of late has been slightly disappointing, with little chance for proper outdoor play.  We had made our daily observations and agreed that there’s been far too much rain! However, we’re hoping (fingers crossed) for at least a bit of snow this January. Our snow pants are growing bored just hanging in our cubbies!

Snow would also be a helpful feature as we study animals that thrive in the winter climates and the tracks that they leave behind.  We’ll also be learning about hibernation, and all the animals that prefer the warm and sunny temperatures.

According to our “Everyday is a Holiday” calendar, there are several other days that our JK/SK group will be celebrating.  National “Popcorn” Day falls on January 19th and National “Give A Compliment” Day is on the 24th. We’re already practicing by pointing out the positives and saying kind things to our friends and classmates. On the 29th of January, we’ll be testing our skills on National “Puzzle” Day, which should be a breeze for this intelligent bunch!

Just a reminder that Friday, January 19th is another P.A. Day. Please let us know as soon as possible if your child will be requiring care. We have sign up sheets in the classroom. Thanks!

Happy New Year to all of you, from the Kindergarten Crew!
