Infant Room #1

“Rain, rain go away, come again but not in May. All the children want to play, so rain, rain go away.”

Hopefully we will have a warm and sunny May, so we can enjoy more time outdoors. Going for walks, riding bikes, and exploring nature is where our infants thrive. Just a reminder the weather is constantly fluctuating, and we do go outside early in the morning. As the temperature rises, we ask all our families to provide a sun hat and we will start applying our Croc Blok sunscreen (that all parents  have already signed off on in their registration package). Croc Blok brand sunscreen is a BPA free, hypoallergenic, SPF 30 sunscreen. The staff will apply it as they feel necessary.

For the month of May and June, we are going to focus on celebrating our Mothers, Fathers, and extended family. We asked all our Infant one families to please send a photo via the Remind App, so we can post all our family photos in the classroom and talk about all the special people in our lives. We will be working at making beautiful artwork for our Mothers for Mother’s Day.

Story Early Learning Centre will be closed Monday May 20th for the Victoria Day holiday

Infant Room #2

Spring has Sprung!! Recently the babies have been able to enjoy morning and afternoon walks and/or time in the yard again after the interesting weather we had at the start of April. We look forward to seeing all the beautiful colours emerge during the Spring season while we are outdoors. We will also be taking a few opportunities to bring flowers indoors for sensory activities this month. The babies have been loving the climbing butterfly structure and ball pit in our classroom during inside time as well.  We have encouraged the babies to climb up the back of the butterfly and then slide down the slide on their bums.

One the topic of butterflies, we have some real social butterflies in the infant room right now. They love to greet everyone that walks into our room with smiles and waves that are priceless. As they do this, we use language like “hi” and “bye” to encourage those language skills to blossom. We also encourage words such as; “book”, “ball”, “done”, and “more” throughout the day. The explosion of language is such a fun stage in their development.

Please Note: With the sun beginning to shine we will be starting to apply sunscreen when we feel it is necessary. Croc Blok brand sunscreen will be provided by Story Book Early Learning Centre. It is a BPA free, hypo-allergenic, and has a SPF of 30.

A special Happy Mother’s Day wish to all our amazing Moms and Grandmothers out there. Enjoy your special day!

Just a reminder that we will be closed Monday, May 20th for Victoria Day. We hope you enjoy your long weekend!
