Welcome back and Happy New Year! We hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. Thank you to the families that helped with our toy/food drive, you helped to make someone’s Christmas a little brighter.

Tinsel the elf unfortunately had to go back to the North Pole. The children looked so forward to finding her each morning. They also told us where their elf was hiding in their houses. We talked a lot about Christmas during December and used this theme to learn many different concepts:

  1. Numbers – using our advent calendars to count
  2. Subtraction – count how many sleeps were left until Santa came
  3. Letters of the Alphabet – S A N T A
  4. Problem solving – working together to find Tinsel

We have new friends who have moved up from the Toddler room, and we want to welcome them and their families to our room. Just a reminder that the teachers in the room are Mrs. Steph, Mrs. Hailie and Ms. Emily. In the afternoons, you will also see Isabelle or Katelyn. We look forward to a fun filled year.

All the children are getting good at putting on their winter gear independently. We have been encouraging self help skills to enhance their independence. Sometimes it takes a bit longer, but it’s worth it in the end to gain the confidence. Please continue to send snow pants and winter boots, even if there isn’t snow; the teachers will use their discretion as to whether they are needed. Thank you for sending mittens instead of gloves with your child, the teachers appreciate it immensely.
