Preschool Room #1
Hip hip hooray summertime is here. We ask that if you haven’t already brought in summer clothes, please bring them in soon. Also, if you have any summer vacation schedules, please let us know ahead of time so that we can staff accordingly.
In June the children were showing a lot of interest in colours and community helpers. You would often see them acting out some of the community helpers during free play or outside time. One conversation that was huge was what the children want to be when they grow up, and a lot of them said firefighters. Later, in June the children started showing interest in camping and Canada day. During the next couple months, we will be expanding their interests and their imagination.
Just a reminder that Story Book will be closed on August 1st for the Civic holiday.
Preschool Room #2
Welcome summer, it has officially arrived! If there will be any changes to your child’s schedule this summer, please let us know!
This past month of June we have expanded on the children’s interest in plants, animals, and tractors by learning about farms! The children have learnt about different farms and what each animal on a farm provides us with. The children participated in many hands on learning experiences such as milking a cow, playing in the mud with pigs, and gardening activities. We created a farmers’ market in our dramatic play centre to expand on their interest and what they have learnt while supporting math, literacy, and social development through play.
During the month of June, the children have enjoyed their time spent outside exploring, playing in the sand box, water painting, and golfing! We look forward to expanding on the children’s play outdoors this summer by bringing indoor toys and different materials outside with us! Outdoor play is essential for development of gross motor skills while allowing the children to move around freely and explore the natural environment around them. Please remember to bring a hat labeled with your child’s name for outdoor times! We will provide sunscreen for your children twice a day as needed. If you have any questions regarding the brand of sunscreen, we use please feel free to ask.
