Toddler Room #1 News

Tis the season to be jolly! The children in our room have already shown some excitement about Santa and his arrival on Christmas Eve bringing us presents. We will talk a lot more about this topic throughout the month of December.

Last month the children enjoyed talking about colours. The children were seen pointing out the different colours that each other were wearing. We also explored what happened when we mixed different primary colours together. We sorted things by colour and used our favourite colours while painting pictures. The children also showed an interest in tractors and farm animals. The children can name each animal and they can make the animal sounds too.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! December is here, and we are so excited to start talking about Christmas. We will be learning all about the traditions, decorations and practicing some songs as we incorporate them with the children’s interests as well.

Recently the children have been interested in building different kinds of structures of all shapes and sizes. Due to this interest we have added different types of materials to build with. Some examples of these materials are: Legos, connecting shapes, and peg boards.

The children have also been learning about community helpers. We discussed the different occupations along with the uniforms, tools and vehicles they might use.

Story Book Early Learning Centre will be closed from Friday, December 21st at 6:00 pm and we will re-open on Wednesday, January 2rd at 6:00 am. If your child has any changes to their schedule, please let staff know so we can staff accordingly. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
